On Saturday, 10/12, we weighed the World Record pumpkin at our Annual Giant Pumpkin Weigh Off. It weighed 2,032 lbs. and was grown by Tim Mathison of Napa, CA. I’d like to congratulate the top five winners:

Check us out on the Kelly Ripa & Michael Strahan show on Thursday 10/17. The pumpkin will be featured at The New York Botanical Garden’s Haunted Pumpkin Garden exhibition through Halloween. It will be carved by Ray Villafane on October 19-20. The master carver, featured on the Food Network, will transform humongous pumpkins into zombies and other unearthly creatures.
Rumor has it that the World Record Pumpkin will be weighed in this Saturday at Uesugi Farms 23rd Annual Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off in Morgan Hill between 9am and 11am! Monday it will be shipped to “Kelly and Michael” for the show. For the past 8 years, Uesugi Farms Pumpkin Park has been a certified weigh off site for the Great Pumpkin Commonwealth. This year Uesugi Farms will be awarding the first place pumpkin with $7.00 per pound, with additional bonus money totaling $30,000.00 for a World Record Pumpkin.
The current world record is 2,009 pounds, grown by Ron Wallace. Ron’s record was set at the Topsfield Fair in Topsfield, MA on September 28, 2012. The current California State Record is 1,874.5 pounds, held by Tim Mathison of Napa. Mathison’s record was set at Elk Grove in October 2013. The largest pumpkin weighed at Useugi Farms is 1,647 pounds, grown by John Hawkley and was featured at the 2012 competition.
