World Record Pumpkin?

Rumor has it that the World Record Pumpkin will be weighed in this Saturday at Uesugi Farms 23rd Annual Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off in Morgan Hill between 9am and 11am! Monday it will be shipped to “Kelly and Michael” for the show. For the past 8 years, Uesugi Farms Pumpkin Park has been a certified weigh off site for the Great Pumpkin Commonwealth. This year Uesugi Farms will be awarding the first place pumpkin with $7.00 per pound, with additional bonus money totaling $30,000.00 for a World Record Pumpkin.

The current world record is 2,009 pounds, grown by Ron Wallace. Ron’s record was set at the Topsfield Fair in Topsfield, MA on September 28, 2012. The current California State Record is 1,874.5 pounds, held by Tim Mathison of Napa. Mathison’s record was set at Elk Grove in October 2013. The largest pumpkin weighed at Useugi Farms is 1,647 pounds, grown by John Hawkley and was featured at the 2012 competition.

Don’t miss this year’s Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off at Uesugi Farms Pumpkin Park. Hopefully, we’ll put our community on the map nationwide!
